Verb type 6

Type 6 verbs are the least common type of verb and are subject to consonant gradation.

Verbs ending in -eta/-etä. For example:

• Kuumeta, to heat up
• Laajeta, to become wider
• Nuoreta, to come loose
• Tarjeta, to stand the cold
• Valjeta, to brighten

Stem

Finding the stem for type 6 verbs can be done by removing the final -ta/-tä then adding -ne after the -e. For example:

• Kuumeta → Kuumene-
• Laajeta → Laajene-
• Nuoreta → Nuorene-
• Tarjeta → Tarjene-
• Valjeta → Valjene-

Type 6 verb crossovers

Occasionally some type 6 verbs will crossover and conjugate as type 4 verbs. Some examples of these are:

• Aueta, to come loose
• Kiivetä, to climb
• Poiketa, to differ from something
